  • 50 Shades of Green - Holiday Exhibit at Matthaei
    Green is the color of nature but there’s more to it than meets the eye. Using examples from the conservatory’s collection and touching on art, science, psychology, research, environmental issues, and literature, 50 Shades of Green illuminates the many meanings of “green.” Plus, seasonal flower display, inspirational ideas for holiday tree decorating, interpretative stations, holiday items for sale in the Garden Store, and more. Free admission.

    Nov. 30-Dec. 1: Exhibit opener and Holiday Open House, 10 am-4:30 pm. Free admission.

    Nov. 30: Spinner's Flock Holiday Sale, 10 am-4 pm. Free admission.

    Dec. 1: Musical performance by Midnight Blue, the University of Michigan Women's Glee Club. 1-1:30 pm. Free admission.

    Dec. 8: Photo-Synthesis: Capturing Nature's Beauty - Free photography workshop with the UM student group Michigan Photography Club (space limited), 10 am-2 pm. Free. (Register on our 50 Shades event page.)

    Dec. 8: Green Holiday Crafts - Free DIY holiday craft workshop with U-M Environmental Crafts Organization. 1-3 pm, drop in. Free.

    Dec. 14: Kids holiday greens workshop. 10 am-noon. Fee applies.

    Dec. 21: A Visit with Father Christmas - 11 am-2 pm. Free.

    Jan. 4, It Is Easy Being Green. The Creature Conservancy with live animals and information on adaptation. 12-2 pm. Free.
