    Hannah joined the University of Michigan in 2010. She received her BA from Queen's University, Belfast, N. Ireland in French and German. During her undergraduate degree Hannah spent a year in Baden-Württemberg teaching English language and culture at the Schlossgymnasium, Künzelsau. She went on to complete an MA in German Studies at Queen's University in 2009, with a dissertation on the portrayal of the city in Mascha Kaléko’s early work.

    Hannah’s research interests include 20th-century literature, visual culture, exhibition culture, typography, graphic design, the historical avant-garde, space, and the city. As an exchange student at the Freie Universität Berlin 2013-2014, Hannah carried out research in Berlin and Hanover for her dissertation, which examines the intersection of text and image in the work of Kurt Schwitters.

    At the University of Michigan Hannah has taught in the German department and was awarded the Frank X. Braun Memorial Graduate Student Instructor Award (2013) and the Rackham Graduate School Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award (2015). She is also the Graduate Student Coordinator of the Avant Garde Interest Group – a Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop.
