The Universe: Yours to Discover brings a global celebration of astronomy to our campus and community. Explore the main  website to find out about campus wide events, exhibitions, and experiences for all ages, from cutting-edge science in a lecture by a Nobel Prize winning astrophysicist to the wacky and wonderful FestiFools Parade on Main Street.

The International Year of Astronomy 2009 marks the four hundredth anniversary of the first astronomical observation through a telescope by Galileo Galilei. It is a worldwide celebration of astronomy and its contributions to society and culture, with a strong emphasis on education, public engagement and involvement of young people. The Winter 2009 Theme Semester on The Universe: Yours to Discover brings this international celebration to campus with a Michigan perspective.

This winters Theme Semester is coordinated by the U-M Department of Astronomy and the Exhibit Museum of Natural History, and is made possible by the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and numerous co-sponsors. More information is available for the media.
