Angelo Pitillo from New York University will be joining the English Language Institute as Director on May 12, 2014.  

Angelo Pitillo has more than twenty years’ experience as a teacher and administrator in English for academic purposes programs in the U.S. and Japan. He has taught academic writing and speaking courses for graduate and undergraduate students, and he has also developed and led language and teacher training programs in the US, Japan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. His teaching and research interests include writing feedback, ESL administration, project- and task-based learning, learning strategy instruction, and teaching with technology. He is excited to be working with the outstanding ELI faculty and academic departments to provide international students at U-M with the language and academic support they need to excel academically and to fully participate in the academic life of the university.
