The Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies announces its 2013-15 theme: "Materials of History." The theme was chosen by the Institute's Steering Committee after considering nominations from History Department faculty and graduate students.

From September 2013 to April 2015, Institute programming will focus on historians' renewed interests in the material, a conceptual groundswell that includes expanded concepts of material culture as well as a reconsideration of "materialist" modes of analysis. Link here to view a full description.

Department of History faculty and graduate students are urged to submit nominations for external speakers whose interests and expertise broadly address the "Materials of History" theme. Nominations must be submitted by February 6 to eisenberginstitute@umich.edu. The Institute will also accept nominations for internal speakers.
