Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies <br> Friday Series <br> Graduate Student Workshop
Surviving materials from those who endured slavery have always been sparse. The papers on this panel share that challenge in different parts of the world and at different moments. This panel provides an opportunity to think through how historians weigh the meanings of the few individuals who do appear in archives with the knowledge that they are already extraordinary by their very inclusion. Each also asks questions about the histories of individuals who experienced oppression and yet might also be considered “collaborators” with, or even agents of, oppression themselves.
