Jane Coaston is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Michigan from 2005-2009, and double majored in history and political science. She wrote a history thesis on Nazi propaganda before and after the Battle of Stalingrad. After graduation, she had a journalism fellowship at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and then moved to DC for an internship at the Chronicle of Philanthropy. She has since worked at a philanthropic advising firm and at a pediatric AIDS foundation, and is now press secretary for the Environmental Working Group, based in DC. 

Alexandra Sloan graduated from the University of Michigan in 2006 with an AB in History and a minor in Russian. Before starting law school at Northwestern University in 2008, she worked at U of M's Center for the History of Medicine on a project about the influenza pandemic of 1918. After law school, she clerked for Judge Helen Ginger Berrigan, of the federal district court in New Orleans. She then joined Grais & Ellsworth LLP, a plaintiffs' law firm in New York that specializes in cases related to the financial crisis.

Jim Manganello is co-founder and artistic director of Fratellanza, a theater troupe committed to developing original, ensemble-based work. After studying History and English at U-M, he worked as a director, actor, and dramaturg in Chicago, Detroit, and now Brussels, where he currently studies at the International School of Theater LASSAAD.

John Kemp is a 1984 graduate of the University of Michigan, where he majored in history. John has nearly 30 years experience as an operating executive and providing advisory services to medium and large-sized companies across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, the automotive aftermarket, and consumer, business and financial services. Highlights of his career including serving as the #2 executive in the automotive business for Sears, Roebuck and Co., and later opening and heading the Chicago office for a Detroit-based middle market investment bank and turnaround firm. John currently leads his own firm (which appropriately enough is named Wolverine Partners), in which he provides consulting services while also pursuing entrepreneurial ventures, including those focused on green technologies.

Emily Thompson received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan in 2008. After graduation, she accepted a job with a Detroit-based non-profit called the United Community Housing Coalition, which provides comprehensive housing services to the homeless and those in jeopardy of losing their homes. She then accepted a position as a caseworker with Congressman John Dingell, leaving his in August 2010 to pursue my Masters of Urban Planning (MUP) at the University of Michigan. She returned to the Housing Coalition while earning my MUP, which she completed in May of 2012. She started at the Michigan Suburbs Alliance the following July.
