Paolo Abarcar is a Ph.D. candidate in economics and public policy at the University of Michigan with research interests primarily in development and labor economics. His work focuses on explaining international migration and its effect on migrants and their households. His most recent working paper explores the return motivations of legal permanent migrants. He also maintains a blog at pabarcar.blogspot.com.
Paolo graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines with a BA in Economics-Honors and Development Studies in 2007. Before coming to Michigan, he worked as a research assistant at the Center for Global Development in Washington DC.
