Economics and Mathematics undergraduate student Yichuan Wang, pictured above with his faculty mentors, Professors Steve Salant (left) and Jim Adams (right), has been selected by the Provost’s Council on Student Honors as a University of Michigan’s nominee for the prestigious Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships. Wang was chosen not only for his high level of academic achievement, but also for his accomplishments outside the classroom.

Rhodes Scholars are nominated by their undergraduate institution to enter to receive funding for two to three years of advanced study at Oxford University. Similarly, the Marshall Scholarship offers the opportunity for young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom.

Wang, who will graduate in 2016 , participated in the MITRE Undergraduate Research Symposium, where he won an award for Best Research Poster for his work with Jim Adams and Steve Salant. Wang was also the inaugural recipient of the Gary Dorman Memorial Scholarship in Economics in 2013-2014, which was established in honor of Dr. Dorman (Econ '72), a former Economics Leadership Council member.
