Fundraising

The Dean’s Young Alumni Council works to create a culture of giving among LSA’s young alumni. One of the ways DYAC seeks to accomplish this is by supporting the College financially. Specifically, the DYAC chooses to champion the LSA Fund for Internships and LSA Fund for Scholarships through fundraising events, donations, and Giving Blueday. As recent graduates not far removed from the student experience, members can understand the impact that an internship can have on a student’s life, experiences, and career trajectory.

DYAC has participated in all three Giving Bluedays to date, and continues to increase its social media presence on the day as well as other interactive tools to engage our young alumni who are unable to attend an event. For everyone who loves Michigan, this in an opportunity to celebrate giving and maximize their impact.

Is a donation required to join a DYAC region?

Although we encourage every member to give back in a capacity to which they are comfortable with, donations are not required. We encourage members to support other areas of the College and University that are meaningful to them.

Where do I start if I'd like to plan a fundraising or Giving Blueday event?

Whatever your idea is, the DYAC Manager can help you execute it. Reach out to Samantha Lemmen and she can provide resources, materials, and suggestions.

What is Giving Blueday?

Our signature fundraising event that many DYAC regions participate in is Giving Blueday. Giving Blueday is the University of Michigan’s annual day of giving. For 24 hours students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are encouraged to donate to their favorite U-M causes.

What does the LSA Fund for Internships and Fund for Scholarships support?

The LSA Fund for Student Internships supports current students who demonstrate need in order to participate in a career-related domestic or international internship. The LSA Fund for Scholarships provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships and financial aid as well as study abroad assistance, based on need or merit.

How do DYAC regions participate during Giving Blueday?

All DYAC regions host an event on Giving Blueday as a way to connect socially, but also as a way to raise funds and awareness for some of their favorite U-M and LSA initiatives. In the past groups have done events around U-M sport watching or social gatherings.
