Welcome to the Center for World Performance Studies!
Are you interested in World Performance Studies? Are you curious about expressive arts from across the globe, especially from underrepresented cultures? The Center for World Performance Studies offers a variety of opportunities to learn and explore this field:
Our funding provides graduate students at U-M the opportunity to pursue projects such as events, conferences, collaborations, research, and scholar/artist residencies. CWPS is delighted to support any event or project that promotes world performance and expressive art projects that broaden the thematic focus of emerging World Performance Studies.
Our Graduate Certificate in World Performance Studies is a curricular opportunity for any student who is currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Michigan who is interested in World Performance Studies. The certificate requires 9 credit hours of coursework over the span of twelve months and provides $3,500 per student for a summer internship, research or practicum experience.
Our programming and events bring in leading artists, faculty and scholars in the field of World Performance Studies. CWPS also facilitates international artist residencies. Through our robust programming, we provide many opportunities for student and faculty interaction with visitors including class visits, seminars, roundtables, public lectures, demonstrations and performances. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend these events—it’s a great way to get involved, network and learn something new! Please visit our events page for a current list of activities.
