This is AEM’s in-context editing interface. It is similar to your Open Text edit.lsa.umich.edu pages. AEM’s on-page editing UI utilizes a Sidekick, which is a floating menu that has tabs (top) and modes (bottom) containing icons that enable different functionalities. The icons and their functions are described in detail on the following page.
SideKick Tabs (Top of Menu)
Component Tab – Contains the list of components for each page. (see pg. XX for list and descriptions)
Page Tab – Lists page properties and additional page actions.
Information Tab – Not utilized by authors in LSA implementation of AEM.
Versioning Tab – A snapshot of a page at a specific point in time. As you develop content, you can roll back to any previous version seamlessly. Versions can be created manually, via this sidekick button, but are also created automatically any time a page is published. You will only use “Create Version” and “Restore Version” sections that appear on the sidekick version tab submenu.
Workflow Tab – Not currently utilized in this implementation, but plan is to roll-out in a future update.
SideKick Modes (Bottom of Menu)
UM Web Log-out Button – Logs out of WebLogin from the on-page UI.
Turn off Edit Mode Button – Turns off the edit function of the page as well as removes the Sidekick. To go back into Edit Mode, hit the Back button on your winder browser.
Edit Mode Button – Allows for editing on the page.
Preview Modes Button – Turns off the edit function of the page. Sidekick remains on the page.
Scaffolding Mode Button – Not utilized in LSA implementation of AEM.
Websites Mode Button – Opens the site admin user interface for the site.
Reload Button – Refresh the edit page.
