Science Café: Environmental Impact of Food

Wednesday, April 15, 2015
12:00 AM
Conor O’Neill’s Traditional Irish Pub, 318 South Main Street, Ann Arbor

Co-sponsored with the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice

How and what we eat impact the resources and ‘polluting’ emissions connected to our food system. But with so many options in the marketplace, how can we as eaters know that our choices matter? Is it possible for local “food movement” leaders to influence or change our overall food systems to reduce the environmental impact of our food? Speakers will include Marty Heller of the U-M Center for Sustainable Systems, and Lesli Hoey of the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and the UM Sustainable Food Systems Initiative.

Science Cafés provide an opportunity for audiences to discuss current science topics with experts in an informal setting. All Science Cafés take place at Conor O’Neill’s Traditional Irish Pub, 318 South Main Street, Ann Arbor. Hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 PM; program 6:00-7:30 PM.
