Geoff Emberling is the former Chief Curator at the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago and is now a Research Associate at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan. He was also Field Director of excavations at Tell Brak, Syria, a joint project between the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British School of Archaeology in Iraq. He will be presenting his work on political practices and the rise of Early Mesopotamian cities in the 4th millennium BC.
