Alumna Sarah Myers' Giving Blueday tweet responding to the UM request for "Your Favorite U-M Memory."

Donors, Tweeters, Instagrammers and Facebookers turned out in force to support the biological station on Giving Blueday. We raised $9,547 from 36 donors and had nearly 20 people share photos, memories and Bug Camp love on social media. The giving total more than quadruples last year’s Giving Blueday donations to UMBS

Giving Blueday is the name of the University of Michigan’s effort on “Giving Tuesday,” a national day of philanthropy that follows on the heels of retail’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The first year of Giving Blueday was 2014. UMBS received $2,169 from 27 donors in the inaugural year.

This year, Giving Bluday was on Tuesday, December 1. UMBS donors gave to 13 different funds, most of which support student scholarships. We especially want to acknowledge recent students who participated, including five 2015 U-M graduates and 3 current students.

We promised all Giving Blueday participants, whether they donated or did one of the university’s hourly social media challenges, an entry in our prize raffle. The winners of an engraved cutting board and some t-shirts are announced in this video:

Thank you to everyone. We hope to see you again next Giving Blueday.

Alumna Gina LaLiberte took liberties with the challenge to share a photo of your "significant other" if you met her/him at Michigan.

Thank you to everyone. We hope to see you again next Giving Blueday.
