Sunday, August 7, 2011
12:00 AM
Gates Lecture Hall, U-M Biological Station on Douglas Lake, 9133 Biological Drive (off Riggsville Rd.), Pellston, MI.

Part of our 2011 Environmental Film Series. This event is free and open to the public.

UMBS Alumna and Filmmaker Sharon Shattuck brings her documentary, "Parasites: A User's Guide" back to the place where much of it was filmed. This 2010 film is about helmenthic therapy -- the use of parasitic worms to treat illness. It was an official selection at, among others, the Camden International Film Festival, the International Science Film Festival, and the Traverse City Film Festival. Sharon will be at this screening to answer questions from the audience. Her film will be followed by a break, during which guests may purchase dinner at the Biological Station Dining Hall. Then Ian Cheney's film, "The City Dark" will be shown at 7:30 p.m.
