Do you love writing? Do you love working with your peers to improve their writing skills? If so, The Sweetland Center for Writing’s Peer Tutoring Program may have an opportunity for you. We’re presently recruiting undergraduates in any discipline to train to be peer tutors in writing. Ideal candidates write well, enjoy collaboration, and demonstrate reliable and conscientious behavior. They will also have at least 24 credits (not counting AP credits) by the time they register for Writing 300.

To apply to the Peer Tutoring Program, pick up an application form at The Sweetland Center for Writing (1310 North Quad) or download one here.

Complete applications include the following:

  • The completed form.
  • A sample of academic writing from a University of Michigan course. (Writing from any discipline except creative writing is fine.)
  • A confidential letter of recommendation speaking to your abilities as a communicator, writer, and tutor from a University of Michigan instructor.
  • An unofficial copy of your transcript (in PDF form).
  • An essay based on the prompt that appears in the application form.

The application deadline for the Fall 2013 term is midnight Sunday, March 24th.

For more information about the Peer Tutoring Program, visit our website's Peer Tutoring page. Decisions regarding acceptance into the program will come after we've had a chance to review all the applications.

We look forward to receiving your application and your recommendation!
