In the just released US News & World Report rankings, Michigan Sociology has again been named a top-ranked department both in the departmental rankings and in multiple specialties.

The top-five Sociology departments were separated by one-tenth of a point, with three schools ranked number one and Michigan Sociology and Stanford tied as the 4th-ranked departments in the country.

Michigan also ranked very highly in a wide range of specialties:

  • #7 in Economic Sociology
  • #3 in Historical Sociology
  • #5 in Sex & Gender
  • #3 in Social Stratification
  • #1 in Sociology of Population

As usual, Michigan Sociology also benefits from the University of Michigan's interdisciplinary focus and synergy with Michigan's other highly ranked social science departments in Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, and Psychology.
