With their advisors, UM Graduate Students Ya-Wen Lei and Jamie Small have received prestigious NSF Law and Social Science Doctoral Dissertation Grants.  

Ya-Wen Lei will use her grant to work on her dissertation project titled "Constructing Online Counterpublic Spheres, Legality and Citizenship in China."  Her one-year project starts in July 2011 and is for $15,000.  Lei's advisor is Professor Greta Krippner.

Jamie Small will use her grant to work on her dissertation project titled "Law and the Production of Sexual Identity:  Processing Male Rape in the Legal Field."  Her one-year project starts in August 2011 and is for $15,000.  Small's advisor is Professor Elizabeth Armstrong.
