UM graduate student Atef Said has published an article in the current issue of ASA Footnotes reflecting on his experience in Tahrir Square during the recent Egyptian revolution. 

Before coming to the University of Michigan for graduate school, Said was a human-rights attorney in Egypt.  His dissertation is tentatively titled The Genesis of the Egyptian Revolution: A Sociological Analysis of the Egyptian Protest Movement(s) from 2000-2011 and the Making of the Egyptian Revolution.
