Bogdan Popa: Feminist Themes in the "New Wave" of Romanian Cinema

Thursday, April 2, 2009

2239 Lane Hall

This talk is part of IRWG’s Visiting Scholars Series. It is free and open to the public.

This is an investigation about how feminist epistemology works within the 'new wave' of Romanian cinema. By drawing on "The Death of Mr. Lazarescu" (Cristi Puiu) and "Four Months, Three weeks and Two Days" (Cristian Mungiu), Popa will show that concepts such as empathy, care and political resistance are powerful feminist resources.
