Awarded to undergraduate students in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.

Simon Mandlebaum Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and academic achievement. This scholarship was established by Mary S. Mandelle in memory of her father, Simon Mandlebaum.

Marber Family Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need.

Margaret R. and David J. Marquardt Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with preference given to entering and continuing students who are residents of the Detroit Public Schools.

Marsh Family Merit Scholarship
Awarded to students based on academic achievement who are residents of the city of Jackson, Michigan or secondarily, from Jackson County, Michigan. When possible, the scholarship shall be awarded to the top entering student(s). Preference will be given for students who have expressed interest in concentrating in Communication Studies.

Fanny Ransom Marsh Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement. The donor was Elia M. Walker, who named the scholarship in memory of her mother, Fanny Ransom Marsh, who made sacrifices in order to educate two of her sons at the University of Michigan.

John Pitt Marsh Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement. The Donor was Elia M. Walker, who named the scholarship in memory of her father, John Pitt Marsh, who made sacrifices in order to educate two of his sons at the University of Michigan.

Ronald Buck Martinez Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement who are residents of Michigan for at least one term. This scholarship was established as a memorial scholarship for Ronald Buck Martinez by his uncle, Lawren L. Buck, and his grandmother, Mary Buck.

Matthie-Haag Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a Michigan resident student, with preference for a student from the Upper Peninsula or the northern part od Michigan, based on financial need.

Paul and Jean Matthews Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement who are non-
Michigan residents. It is the Donor's preference that financial need be considered. Candidates should be informed of the Donor's hope that scholarship recipients will be motivated to give something back financially when they are able to do so following college.

Awarded to students based on financial need who are residents of Michigan with a preference for students who would otherwise not have the financial means to matriculate to the University

Awarded to a student who is a resident of Michigan. Preference is given to students with
financial need.

May-Walt Science Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need who are residents of Michigan. The Donors desire that preference be given to undergraduates who have expressed interest in research in the general area of Life Sciences.

Terrence J. McDonald Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need.

Awarded to undergraduate students or graduate fellowships based on financial need and
academic achievement who are residents of Michigan.

Douglas and Charlotte McGregor Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with preference to students who are residents of the Greater Cleveland urban area and secondarily from the Metro Detroit urban area. The
Donor's desire is that the scholarship be awarded to entering and continuing students that meet at least one of the following criteria: will contribute to the diversity of the campus, individuals who have overcome substantial economic obstacles, socio-economically disadvantaged students, or first generation in one's family to attend college.

Medway Family Math and Science Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with preference given to undergraduates with an interest in math, science, or the Idea Institute.

Alfred and Rosemarie Mele Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need who are residents of Michigan with preference to students from the Detroit metropolitan area.

George and Connie Mercer Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need who are residents of Michigan.

Carole and David Metzger Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with preference given to graduates of the Detroit Public Schools with an interest in the Sciences and/or Math.

Diane L. Meyer Scholarship Fund for Community College Students
Awarded to undergraduate students who transfer to the University from community colleges, based on financial need.

Norma V. Meyers Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need. Preference is given to students from New York. First consideration is given to students from the Bronx or Manhattan.

Michigan Community Scholars Program Community Service Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with a preference for students from the Michigan Community Scholars Program, a residential program, or its successor, who participate in community service.

Arthur Miller Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need. Arthur Miller was an American playwright and
essayist. He was a prominent figure in American theatre, writing dramas that include award-winning plays such as All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, and The Crucible. At the University of Michigan, Miller first majored in journalism and worked as a reporter and night editor for the student paper, the Michigan Daily. It was during this time that he wrote his first work, No Villain. Miller switched his major to English, and subsequently won the Avery Hopwood Award for No Villain. He was mentored by Professor Kenneth Rowe, who instructed him in his early forays into playwriting. In 1937, Miller wrote Honors at Dawn, which also received the Avery Hopwood Award. In 1938, Miller received a BA in English from the University of Michigan. Miller retained strong ties to his alma mater throughout the rest of his life, establishing the university's Arthur Miller Award in 1985 and Arthur Miller Award for Dramatic Writing in 1999, and lending his name to the Arthur Miller Theatre in 2000 (which resides in the Charles R. Walgreen, Jr. Drama Center). Awarded to students based on financial need and who are residents of Ohio with preference given to students who are residents of Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

George H. Miller Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students enrolled in the University who are working or intending to work in the field of History.

Michael R. Miller Family Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students who are not residents of the state of Michigan, with a preference for students who are residents of the state of Ohio, and when possible the recipients be pursuing their studies in the History Department.

Milstein Family Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need with preference given to entering and continuing undergraduate students from the Michigan Community Scholars Program, a residential program, or its successor.

Awarded to an undergraduate student.

Morahan Family Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need who are not residents of Michigan.

Mills Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need who residents of Michigan.

Anita and Morton Mintz Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need.

Miss Newman's School Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement who have
completed at least one semester. This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of Miss Newman's Trustee Corporation, a Michigan corporation, in honor of Miss Newman's
School.

Mongeluzo Family Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need.

Rona Weingarten Moscow English Honors Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students in the English Honors program who demonstrate financial need.

Frances Hinkley Moore Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement. This scholarship was established in 1937 by bequest of Frances Hinkley Moore, B.S. 1890, and M.S. 1899. Her achievements included: Teacher; Business woman; various business & club offices. She was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and had many memories of the University of Michigan, including buildings such as University Hall and events such as the Pan American Congress and University of Michigan Presidents. Many family members attended the University of Michigan including her brother, Hinkley, D.H.; nephews, Hinkley, Milton G.; Cole, P.H.; and her niece, Hinkley, Frances M.

Awarded to a Michigan resident student with financial need.

Nancy and Thomas Sarosi - N.E.W.T.S. Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need with a preference for residents of Emmet,
Charlevoix, or Cheboygan counties in northern Michigan.

Robert D. and Janet E. Neary Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to students based on academic achievement who are non-residents of Michigan.

Jonas Neihardt Scholarship Fund
Awarded to undergraduate students participating in the Michigan in Washington program.

Joshua Neren Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with a preference for undergraduates who are
residents of the tri-state region of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Muriel H. W. Noble Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement with consideration given to students from the Chicago metropolitan area.

NOLA Scholarship or Sarpedoneum Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need with preference given to undergraduates who are children of police and firefighters killed in the line of duty in any state, children of any family in greater New Orleans devastated by hurricane Katrina, and to any non-Michigan resident student studying Classic Civilizations in the Classics, History of Art or related departments.

Jeffrey and Laura Norman Endowed Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement to recipients from New Jersey, with preference to students from Bergen County, attending the University of Michigan, College of Literature, Science and the Arts.

Awarded to students based on financial need for undergraduate students who are residents of Genesee, Calhoun, and Kalamazoo counties in Michigan.

Zibby O'Neal Scholarship for Creative Writing
Awarded to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need and who show exceptional promise in creative writing in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.

Oswald Scholarship
Awarded to students based on academic achievement with extraordinary abilities or potential in any of the following fields: Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Music, or Art.

Paine Family/Herbert E. and Margaret Boter Trapp Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and who are residents of Michigan. It is the
Donors' preference that awards are offered to students from underrepresented counties,
especially in north-eastern and southwestern Michigan.

not be residents of Michigan. Preference is given to students from the Western Region of the U.S. Preference is also given to students studying in the humanities or social sciences.

Karen Sikora Peterson Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students based on financial need, with preference for a student who is the first in his/her family to attend college. 

Bruce and Carol Pilsner Family Scholarship Fund
Awarded to undergraduate students based on financial need, who are majoring in Economics.

Helen A. Pratt Scholarship
Awarded to students based on academic achievement. This four-year Dean's Merit Scholarship endowment was established from the sale of 600 shares of Wisconsin Electric Power, and 500 shares of Central & South West Corporation stock in 1987. This was established as one of the first Dean's Merit Scholarships.

Awarded to assist students with financial need.

Public Service Internship Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement. The scholarship will provide stipends, tuition waivers, and/or other financial support to students who participate in programs or other outreach activities that encourage students to pursue public interest careers.

demonstrated commitment to social and humanitarian concerns.

Kelly Vance Rea Scholarship Fund
Awarded to students who graduated from Pioneer High School or Huron High School, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Recipients shall be selected based on academic achievements, and good citizenship in all aspects of high school life.

Jasper Braley Reid Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement who are
concentrating in history. This memorial scholarship was created by the donor, Edward S. Reid, senior counsel for the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Relles Family Scholarship
Awarded to a non-Michigan resident student with financial need, with preference given to students from New York City and then the state of New Jersey.

Florence M. Rennie Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need, academic achievement.
