Speaker:Giovanni Bonvicini (Wayne State University)

The approved Super B Factory at KEK aims at producing 100 billions B decays in five years. The technical advancements for producing such statistics include a novel way to produce and collide nano-beams, with transverse sizes only a factor of ten higher than at the International Linear Collider. The Belle detector will also undergo an extensive upgrade to improve performance and accept much higher radiation and rates. Sensitive probes of new physics include leptonic B decays, FCNC ("penguin"), with particular emphasis on the A_{FB} asymmetry in the B \to K ll decay, direct CP-violation in the B-system, and (D,B)-mixing.
