DEPARTMENT COLLOQUIUM
Understanding the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking: The Higgs Boson and Beyond
In the standard model of particle physics, the Higgs boson is introduced to break the electroweak symmetry and gives masses to different elementary particles. People have searched for the Higgs boson in the past 40 years and a Higgs-like boson was discovered by ATLAS and CMS experiments in 2012. More studies about its properties and understanding of high-mass behavior of vector boson scattering processes are critical to verify that it is the SM Higgs boson. I will discuss these studies and also present other related searches that my research group has been involved in.
