HEP - ASTRO SEMINAR<br>DAMIC: A Search for Low Mass Dark Matter with CCD Detectors

The DAMIC detector exploits the energy precision, low noise, and imaging capabilites of thick CCD's (developed for IR astronomical imaging) in the direct search for dark matter. The use of a low noise silicon target extends the WIMP sensitivity down to masses of 1 GeV, and a 100 gram detector operating at SNOLAB will soon establish the best world limits on low mass WIMPS.
