An annual lecture, held in conjunction with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences each year, in which a prominent paleontologist or historical geologist is invited to campus to give a public lecture.
Each year the Museum of Paleontology and Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences present an award, with an honorarium, to a University of Michigan graduate student or students in recognition of outstanding scholarship, as evidenced by completion of an original research manuscript. This award is presented at our annual public Case Lecture honoring Ermine Cowles Case, former Chairman of the Department of Geology and Director of the Museum of Paleontology, whose research spanned the general fields of paleontology and historical geology.
A high point of the academic year is delivery of our annual Ermine Cowles Case Memorial Lecture, named for the first director of the Museum of Paleontology. Sixty two lectures have been delivered to date. See listing and posters below.
