Andries Coetzee, Lorenzo García-Amaya and Nick Henriksen presented on their collaborative research project about Patagonian Afrikaans at the 45th Linguistic Symposium on Romance Languages, held in São Paulo, Brazil, May 6 to 9. The presentation, based on research conducted in collaboration with Daan Wissing from the University of the North-West in South Africa, was titled "Rhythmic transfer in language contact: Spanish and Afrikaans in Patagonia", and represents the first results coming from their documentation project on Patagonian Afrikaans.
