"Ancient Mesopotamian History and Culture" is a 400-level undergraduate class with three sections. In these sections students are introduced to primary sources in translation. Although I have gathered some sources over the last five years, these have been distributed to students as xeroxes. I now propose to gather many more primary sources in translation, scan and edit them in a consistent way, and make them available as an on-line sourcebook. A graduate student (already identified and who has agreed to work for two months on the project) will work under my direction to gather the sources, scan the translations, and format the documents into a sourcebook. The project will be supplemented over the years. The sourcebook will be (eventually) made available to scholars and students outside the university.
