This project will integrate the use of LectureTools into the teaching of one of the Department of History's main global history classes, at a time when a new global history curriculum is being rolled out, and there is a need to test its effectiveness in teaching large survey classes about unfamiliar parts of the world. In my case, I will first do this for the second part of the African history survey, where students struggle to learn the map of contemporary Africa at the same time that they must learn a basic chronology for two centuries, 1800-2000.
