We are seeking funding to build an archive of digital images of African visual culture that will be used in teaching undergraduate courses. These images will be used in lieu of analog images. The History of Art Department has a growing archive of approximately 15,000 digital images, with an estimated annual acquisition rate of approximately 4,000 images. Perhaps even more important than providing tangible resources for teaching African art history, this project will serve as a model for other members of the History of Art Faculty making the move from analog to digital imagery.
