This project seeks to streamline the student experience of 1) online, peer-to-peer learning platforms such as blogs and Piazza-like discussion forums and 2) an assessment plan that allows students enormous flexibility and autonomy in designing their path through the term. I piloted this approach in WN 2013 and it worked very well except that students found it difficult to keep up with the points they had earned already; the assessment opportunities they had remaining; and projecting possible course outcomes based on different kinds of course behavior. On the instructor side, managing each individual student's point accumulation required precision, careful timing and frequent revision. So, a secondary goal of the project is to streamline as much as possible the management of student point accumulation.
