Graduate students teach a large proportion of all the first-year writing courses and, as noted above, it is becoming increasingly important for them to know how to help students use new media in writing. An excellent opportunity for graduate students to improve their skills is offered by the national meeting of Computers and Writing which will be held on the UM campus May 19-22. With over 540 people on the program, and a rich array of workshops and concurrent sessions, along with a graduate student research network, this conference offers graduate students an excellent opportunity to improve their skills in an important area of teaching.
