Public Scholarship and Community Engagement

  • The Rackham Program in Public Scholarship (formerly Arts of Citizenship) supports collaborative scholarly and creative endeavors that engage communities and co-create public goods while enhancing students’ professional development. The program has three offerings: The Summer Institute for Social Change, Grants in Public Scholarship, and Engaged Pedagogy Initiative Fellowship.

  • The Center for Engaged Academic Learning (CEAL) offers a semester-long graduate training program in community-based learning called Engaged Pedagogy Initiative that promotes excellence in undergraduate teaching and graduate student professional development.
  • CEAL also coordinates the Community-Based Learning (CBL) Consultants Program, where graduate students provide dedicated support to LSA faculty members who want to develop a new CBL course or integrate applied learning with communities into an existing course.
