The Science Learning Center (SLC) and Arts at Michigan are excited to announce the 2015 Science As Art Contest for currently enrolled undergraduate students.

We are seeking submissions of artwork that express scientific principles, concepts, ideas, processes and/or structures. Artwork will be accepted in a variety of formats including visual, literary, musical, video, performance-based or multimedia. A juried panel using criteria based on both scientific and artistic considerations will choose winning submissions.  Cash prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories, which will be determined based on the number and types of submissions received.

Entrants can begin submitting their materials on  Monday, Oct. 27th, 2014.  The submission deadline is  Friday, January 9th, 2015.  Entries will be submitted electronically along with the appropriate entry forms.

On Friday, January 30th, 2015 from 2-4 PM we will host a Science As Art Contest Exhibition and Awards Ceremony in the Gallery in Room 100 of Hatcher Graduate Library on the UM’s Central Campus. We will invite the contest winners and finalists to display and discuss their work with the University Community.

More information about the contest, including entry forms, is available at lsa.umich.edu/slc/scienceasart.  If you have any questions about the contest, please contact us at scienceasart@umich.edu.

We look forward to receiving your entries!
