"Increasing access to the Museum’s collection and scholarship serves the interests and needs of our 21st-century audiences by offering new resources for creativity, knowledge, and ideas." -Thomas P. Campbell
Matthew Biro quoted in New York Times article about Anselm Keifer's new installation at the Pompidou Center in Paris
Mr. Biro said much of the criticism of Mr. Kiefer was “because he was going his own way. Now the art world is moving back to much more engagement with history and politics, which is something he has been doing a long time.”
The VRC maintains nearly 500,000 images of art. The collection’s roots are more than 90 years old and developed as a teaching collection to support faculty and students. As the University of Michigan’s History of Art evolved and became a center for scholarship, so did the VRC collection become an international resource.
We strive to support our students and faculty on the frontlines of learning and research; to steward our planet, our community, our campus. To do this, the History of Art Visual Resources Collection needs you—because the world needs Victors.
