Global Experiences

Critical thinking. Self-sufficiency. Flexibility. Communication skills. Intercultural knowledge and awareness.

Students develop these skills and more when they travel abroad, and the College of LSA is committed to providing a variety of opportunities for students to cultivate a global perspective.

From examining the effectiveness of poverty education campaigns to language immersion courses, from helping provide clean water to a community to traveling abroad with a professor to see classroom learning applied first-hand, the opportunities for LSA students to engage the world are limitless--when they have the resources to take part.

With your help, the College can provide study abroad opportunities for all students who have a desire to learn about other cultures from experience.

Global experience hubs.

The Center for Global and Intercultural Study (CGIS) brings together the wide variety of options for LSA students to pursue learning around the world. CGIS offers undergraduates more than 70 programs in 30 countries—from short-term summer service learning projects to traditional year-long study abroad.

The Global Scholars Program (GSP) is an intercultural living-learning community on U-M’s campus that challenges students to focus on global social justice education. GSP brings together international and U.S. sophomores, juniors, and seniors to live and work together to promote intercultural understanding.
