We will be holding a student advising file training session on Friday, September 4th from 10-12 Noon.
Please ask your advisors to RSVP for the session to Erin Trame (firstname.lastname@example.org). The sessions will be held in the Advising Center Training Room. Tell your advisors to come to 1255 Angell, and the front desk staff can direct them.
Additionally, we invite new advisors to make use of our video tutorials, which are linked to in the Major Advising section of the Advisor Handbook (it's the middle link labeled “ Student Advising File Tutorials” in the "Training & Resources section"), and also on the faculty/staff side of our website.
Also, please remember to have your new advisors request access to the student advising file in time to be able to follow along at the training sessions. They will need to work through the access and compliance process (including the FERPA tutorial) to be granted access. The request and any questions about the process should be directed to Kate Sechler (email@example.com). We encourage the attendees to bring their own laptop or iPad.
The student advising file will also be included in the second session of our fall training & support program. These trainings will take place from 10-12 Noon on Fridays in October in the Advising Center Training Room. We ask your advisors to RSVP for the session to Erin Trame (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please have them indicate if they plan to attend all four sessions in October, or which ones they intend to attend.

Overview of Requirements, Intro to on-line resources including the CG and Wolverine Access, Transcript Reading session, Advisor Handbook
- Friday, October 9:
Student Advising File, Exceptions and Note-writing tips, Declaration and Release information, PTD and Audit overview, graduation and auditing, minors.
- Friday, October 16:
Standard's Board — including Dean's file, grade review and progress reports, Students in Difficulty
- Friday, October 30:
Transfer credit, study abroad, Honors Plans, IMP and BGS
The time of the sessions is 10AM-Noon. The location is the Newnan Advising Center's training/conference rooms (G239/243 Angell). Please RSVP at your convenience to Erin Trame (email@example.com).
