ePerformance Step by Step Instructions for Supervisors

Spring ePerformance 2017

Part I:  Log into ePerformance

  • Click on the link provided by People Admin or go to the following https://umich.peopleadmin.com/hr/login:
    • For first time users
    • Username will be your uniquename
    • Password will be your uniquename
    • Change your password to something that you will easily remember
  • Bookmark the website for future use
  • Once logged in you should see your Employee Portal
  • You will either see a dashboard of all your staff that report to you OR for those that do not have dashboard access you will see your Employee Portal and on the left side of the screen you will see ‘Employee Reviews’ to see your staff.

Part II:  Supervisor Approves Work Plan

  • Select Employee Reviews on the left side of your screen.
  • Next to the name of the employee whose Plan you are approving Click ‘2016-17 LSA Performance’ or click the blue ‘Review’ button.  You will now see your employee’s portal.

  • Click the orange ‘Plan’ icon.
  • Review the plan and click the blue ‘Agree’ button at the bottom of the screen.
  • The Self Evaluation and the Supervisor evaluation will be open for both parties.

Part III:  Supervisor Evaluation

  • Select Employee Reviews on the left side of your screen.
  • Next to the name of the employee whose Plan you are approving Click ‘2016-17 LSA Performance’ or click the blue ‘Review’ button.  You will now see your employee’s portal.
  • Click the ‘Supervisor Evaluation’ icon (pen)

  • You will now see the Work Plan that was approved.  At the bottom of each KAR will be a ‘Area Rating’ and a dropdown box.  Select the rating that you feel that the employee has received for that KAR.
    • Any rating other than ‘Meets Expectations’ will require you to put additional information in comments to support your rating choice.
  • Continue this process for every one of your employee’s KARs.  You can hit ‘Save Draft’ at the bottom of the page to save your progress.
  • At the bottom of all the KARs, you will be able to give an OVERALL rating for your employee.  Select the rating from the dropdown.
    • Any rating other than ‘Meets Expectations’ will require you to put additional information in comments to support your rating choice.
  • When you are done with the Key Areas of Responsibility and have determined an overall rating, hit the ‘Next’ button at the bottom
  • You will now be taken to the Guiding Principle Page.  For Spring 2017 Appraisal, this will not be measured.  hit the ‘Next’ button at the bottom
  • You will now be in the Conflict of Interest and Commitment Section.  You do not need to do anything in this section until you sit down with your employee.
  • If the employee is sitting with you, you can select ‘Agree’ or ‘Disagree’ after the employee attests about their COI/COC
  • If ‘Disagree’ is the selection, make sure you work to get a management plan in place for the COI/COC

  • If you have not sat down to go over the review with your employee, hit 'Save Draft'.
    • DO NOT HIT COMPLETE if you have NOT gone over the review with the employee.
  • Set a time aside to go over the review with your employee and answer the COI/COC tab as part of the process.
  • Once you have gone over the review with the employee, hit the blue ‘Complete’ button.
    • NOTE:  Once the supervisor evaluation is marked complete, no changes can be made and the employee will get an email indicating that they need to acknowledge that they received their review in the system.
  • If an employee would like a hard copy of their evaluation, click the blue ‘ACTION’ button near the top right hand of the screen and select ‘Print’.

Co-Reviewers

  • If you need to add co-reviewer to a Supervisor Evaluation please do the following:
    • When you enter the supervisor evaluation, at the top of the screen you will see in blue ‘Add Co-reviewer’.
    • When the small pop up screen appears, enter the name of the person you want to have co-reviewer privileges.
      • NOTE:  You can only select 1 co-reviewer to add to the evaluation.  Should you need to gather additional input, another method should be considered such as soliciting feedback via a meeting or email.
    • Once you have assigned a co-reviewer, they will have the same access to the supervisor evaluation as you do.  They will see the employee’s name under ‘My Employee Reviews’.
    • Co-reviewers can enter in comments and provide feedback as a supervisor.
    • Co-reviewers should only hit ‘Save Draft’ when they enter their comments.  They should never hit the ‘Complete’ button, even if they are done.

Once you have completed this process for all your employees, the ePerformance process for Spring 2017 will be completed.  All reviews need to be completed no later than June 30, 2017.  The next ePerformance cycle starting with Work Planning only will be open on July 1, 2017.
