ELI 537: Pronunciation II

10-week course

This course is for graduate students who are generally fluent but who wish to refine their ability to speak more clearly and comprehensibly. Participants review problematic vowels and consonants based on individual diagnostics, and increase their correct use of these sounds in more spontaneous speaking situations. Over time, more focus is placed on stress, rhythm and intonation. Activities include:

  • Choral-taped reading
  • Short (2-3 min) presentations
  • Academic discussions with a focus on accuracy (pronunciation and grammar)
  • Preparation for reading conference presentations
