On March 13, Roger Bagnall, Leon Levy Director and Professor of Ancient History at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University, presented "Materializing Papyrus." His talk, part of the Thursday Speaker Series for the Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies, examined the potential for ancient media -- including papyri and ostraca -- to serve as archaeological objects. The event continued the Institute's 2013-15 theme, "Materials of History."

On March 14, graduate students Graham Claytor, Jonathan Farr, and Jonathan McLaughlin presented the workshop, "Papyri, Parchment, Potsherds." Professor Katherine French chaired.
