Deirdre de la Cruz, an assistant professor in History and Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan, discussed the material networks of the miraculous in her November 7 presentation with the Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies. Her talk, "The Rose Petals of Lipa," focused on reports of rose petals spontaneously falling from the sky outside a Carmelite convent in Lipa, Philippines from 1948 to 1949. The event continued the Institute's 2013-15 theme, "Materials of History." Professor de la Cruz's lecture is available online as an MP3 audio file and is accessible for University of Michigan account holders.
