Unseen Partners: Manipulating Microbial Communities that Support Life on Earth

Monday, May 16, 2016
12:00 AM
Rackham Graduate School, fourth floor amphitheater

This free event was organized by EEB Professor Tom Schmidt, U-M Center for Microbial Systems.

Microbes are everywhere around us. We battle the few that cause disease, but we rely on many of them to maintain a habitable planet and our own health. We have unintentionally altered massive communities of microbes through climate change, oil spills and even changes in our diet.

Now that we have the tools to document changes in microbial communities, is it time to start targeting further manipulations of microbial biomes to improve human and environmental health?
