Brian Arbic's research group continues to be busy and productive.
In November 2014 they welcomed Dr. Amanda O'Rourke, PhD Princeton University, as a postdoc into the group (photo left). Paige Martin, a graduate student in our group, spent 3 months in Germany working with her co-advisor. Anna Savage, another graduate student in our group, went on a month-long research cruise in the equatorial Pacific in the fall of 2014.
In August 2015, Alfredo Wetzel became the first graduate student in the group to obtain his PhD, in Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics. Alfredo has moved on to a postdoc in the math department at University of Wisconsin. Andy Morten is slated to become the second PhD from the group, in September 2015. Conrad Luecke passed his prelims in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in April 2015. Former group postdoc David Trossman recently obtained a position as an Associate Research Scientist, jointly appointed between NASA GESTAR and Johns Hopkins University.
Finally, postdoctoral fellow Dr. Joseph Ansong and Professor Arbic will visit Ghana from August 17-30 in order to conduct a pilot summer school in oceanography at the Regional Maritime University (RMU). Summer school attendees are expected to come from RMU as well as from the 3 largest research universities in Ghana.
