UM Financial Aid
Most UM-awarded financial aid—grants, scholarships, loans—may be used to help defray global study program costs. Speak with an advisor in the Office of Financial Aid to determine what kind of financial aid funding you will receive for a CGIS program.
The LSA Scholarship Office is committed to providing support to students with demonstrated financial need. Over $1.4 million in LSA scholarship funds are available each year for LSA students on CGIS programs.
Scholarships are granted based on financial need. Amounts range from $500 to $10,000 per student depending on the level of need and program costs. LSA students with financial need should apply for the LSA Global Experience Scholarship on M-Compass. Apply for the LSA Global Experience Scholarship at the same time that you apply to your CGIS program through M-Compass.
Recipients of the LSA Global Experience Scholarship must complete a donor-related activity for the LSA Scholarship Office as well as a service activity with CGIS. You have a variety of options for satisfying your CGIS scholarship service requirement.
Pell Grant recipients on GIEU programs automatically receive the GIEU Pell Scholarship to cover their entire program fee. All LSA students with demonstrated financial need—including Pell Grant recipients—are eligible for additional funding through the LSA Scholarship Office’s Global Experience Scholarship.
