RESEARCH CONFERENCE: Medeq's First Annual Health Disparities Research Conference (Event: Feb. 18, 2017)
Looking for an opportunity to present your health related research? A way to network with professors, graduate schools, and health professionals? Learn more about public health? If so, then check out Medical Equity’s first annual Health Disparities Research Conference!
Medical Equity is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded by students at Wayne State University, that seeks to raise awareness about health disparities and promote health equity. So far, Medical Equity has 3 student chapters at Wayne State University, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and the University of Detroit Mercy that empower students to help combat health disparities in their respective communities.
Our organization is predominately student-oriented where initiatives and interventions are designed to promote the well-being of students. To that end, we will be holding our first annual Health Disparities Research Conference on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Wayne State University in the Student Center Building. This will serve as a formal gathering of students, professors, and health professionals alike as we celebrate student success in research.
We will be joined by esteemed guests including our keynote speaker, Dr. Keith Norris Ph.D, M.D., UCLA School of Medicine, and Dr. Keith Whitfield, Provost, Wayne State University along with a multitude of professors and health professionals from across the state! This will provide students with a great opportunity to present their research to a relevant crowd, learn more about the field, and make new connections. At the conference, there will be both a poster symposium and a series of oral presentations and students can decide which method of presenting their research. You can submit your abstract and register, here.
For those who are not conducting research of their own, we still strongly encourage you to come as there will be plenty of networking opportunities for students to possibly engage in their research as well! Registration for students is $25 and $50 for non-students. We also welcome any departments, research labs, or graduate programs to register as exhibitors at the conference! You can register, here.
There are also opportunities to volunteer for the research conference. Whether you are a professor, lecturer, MA or Ph.D student, or undergraduate, there are a multitude of positions that can be filled. Volunteers are granted free admission into the conference. You can sign up to volunteer, here.
