Work with national lakeshore Resource Management staff to set up and sample vegetation plots to establish plant indicator species. The indicator species will be used to help determine impacts of white-tailed deer on national lakeshore resources and establish action thresholds for implementation of the deer management plan.  These positions require working primarily outdoors under a variety of weather conditions, with potential exposure to poisonous plants, and biting and stinging insects.  Technicians will also collect data and map plots using global positioning system units/data loggers. Duties may also involve monitoring and working to restore and improve oak savanna habitat for the Karner blue butterfly.
