Public Transit

The South Thayer Building is on central campus in Ann Arbor and is easily accessed by local public transportation or on foot from nearby. There are several park-and-ride lots throughout the city. The #2 bus runs right past our front door, but any bus will drop you off at a campus location that is within walking distance. Visit Ann Arbor Transit Authority for more information.

Traveling on I-94 (Ford Freeway)

From Detroit (heading west)

Take State Street exit 177. Turn right (north). Continue on State Street approximately two miles to the main campus area. Turn right on North University and go to the next stop sign, which is the intersection of North University and South Thayer Street. Turn left on South Thayer. The South Thayer Building will be on your left at the corner of South Thayer and East Washington.

From Chicago (heading east)

Take State Street exit 177. Turn left (north). Continue on State Street approximately two miles to the main campus area. Turn right on North University and go to the next stop sign, which is the intersection of North University and South Thayer Street. Turn left on South Thayer. The South Thayer Building will be on your left at the corner of South Thayer and East Washington.

Traveling on US-23

From Ohio (heading north)

Exit onto I-94 west (exit 35 toward Chicago). Proceed approximately three miles and exit onto S. State St. (exit 177). Turn right off of the ramp onto S. State St. (north). Continue on State Street approximately two miles to the main campus area. Turn right on North University and go to the next stop sign, which is the intersection of North University and South Thayer Street. Turn left on South Thayer. The South Thayer Building will be on your left at the corner of South Thayer and East Washington.

From Northern MI (heading south)

Take US-23 south to M-14 west. Follow M-14 west signs closely. At the fork, stay to the right, following the "Ann Arbor" signs. Take the second exit after the fork, called Downtown Ann Arbor exit; this will become Main Street. Follow Main Street to Huron Street. Take a left at East Huron Street. Continue down East Huron Street to State Street. Take a right on State Street. Go one block to the first light. North Quad is on your left at the intersection of South State Street and East Washington. Take a left at East Washington and travel to the next stop sign, which is the intersection of East Washington and South Thayer. On the right is the South Thayer Building (corner of E. Washington and S. Thayer).

Traveling on I-696 (W.P. Ruether Freeway)

From Northwest Suburbs

Take I-696 to I-275 south to M-14 west. Follow the M-14 west signs closely. At the fork, stay to the left, following the "Ann Arbor" signs. Take the second exit after the fork, which is called "Downtown Ann Arbor"; this will become Main Street. Follow Main Street to Huron Street. Take a left at East Huron Street. Continue down East Huron Street to State Street. Take a right on State Street. Go one block to the first light. North Quad is on your left at the intersection of South State Street and East Washington. Take a left at East Washington and travel to the next stop sign, which is the intersection of East Washington and South Thayer. On the right is the South Thayer Building (corner of E. Traveling on I-96 (Jeffries Freeway)

From parts of Detroit, Redford, M-14, Plymouth, and Canton

Take I-96 to M-14 west. Follow M-14 west signs closely (by Ann Arbor it forks to the left). Take the second exit after the fork, which is marked "Downtown Ann Arbor"; this will become Main Street. Follow Main Street to Huron Street. Take a left at East Huron Street. Continue down East Huron Street to State Street. Take a right on State Street. Go one block to the first light. North Quad is on your left at the intersection of South State Street and East Washington. Take a left at East Washington and travel to the next stop sign, which is the intersection of East Washington and South Thayer. On the right is the South Thayer Building (corner of E. Washington and S. Thayer).
