Jason De León's research on the border this past summer is featured on NPR today.  His fascinating project uncovers a tragic corollary of the cross-border immigration story, the deaths of some of those who cross and the possibility of under-counting the number of those people who die in the deserts every year.  This is a fine example of anthropology in public discourse.
