The publications template and components can be used to record a wide range of your faculty's creative output, but it can also be used for other purposes.
LSA's Internships page, for instance, uses the component to display opportunities for students.
Most sites organize publications by author, so a publication page will be filed under a people profile. You can see how this works in the site admin.
There are several sites which are organized differently, because of the extremely extensive nature of their publications, or because the authors are not necessarily faculty, or both. UMMAA and Slavic fit this description.
I run Open Labs twice a week in which you can ask all your questions and get help with setting these things up. Labs are Mondays 2-4pm and Thursdays 10-11am.
The anchor tag has its complications but you can get it to work, and I've assisted someone at ISS before in anchoring to videos. You have to create the anchor end-point first, and then the anchor that links to it.
Adding items to the functional menu is done through the page properties on the home page.
For the admittedly difficult issue of bad-looking images, there is a page about this on our website. Please note you should *not* resize your image so it's small to fit in the thumbnail, that actually makes it worse.
