An international group of invited speakers and commentators will discuss the history of medicine and the body in a wide range of historical settings, including China, Japan, Korea, Tibet, the Mongol Empire, and Vietnam. This workshop is funded by the Wellcome Trust project "Beyond Traditions" at EASTmedicine, University of Westminster; by the American Council of Learned Societies/Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation "Comparative Perspectives on Chinese Culture and Society" grant program, and by the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures.
